New Orleans' Top Chefs to Serve 1,000 Meals to Sandy Victims

The chefs of New Orleans know how hard it can be to rebuild after a natural disaster - so they're reaching out to help New York recover from Hurricane Sandy. Tomorrow, six of the city's culinary best (along with New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu and the famous Stooges Brass Band) will be cooking up and serving 1,000 meals to those who were affected by the storm in Far Rockaway. The chefs participating are Michael Gulotta (August), Donald Link (Link Restaurant Group, which includes Herbsaint and Cochon), Freddie McKnight (Drago's), Greg Reggio (Zea), Stephen Stryjewski (Cochon) and Mark Uddo (Country Day).

The event will take place at PS 53 at 1045 Nameoke St., with 100 New York Cares volunteers there to help pass out the food. Hopefully the funky jazz and Southern eats will help lift spirits in the still-devastated area.
