Josef Centeno opens Bar Ama this weekend, where we suspect many people will be grabbing puffy tacos and tequila-based drinks at the bar. We've always been a fan of places where you can belly up to the bar for dinner, especially if rolling solo. You can usually slip in without a reservation, even when the dining room has been booked for weeks. The bartenders are built-in conversationalists, and you can always chat with fellow bar customers if you feel so inclined. In fact, dining at the bar is often more communal (and less awkward) than those communal tables that are so popular these days.
