Del Campo: Victor Albiso's Penn Quarter Latin Grill

Victor Albiso (ex BLT Steak) will open Del Campo, an upscale South American grill in the recently shuttered PS 7 Penn Quarter space. Abisu will mine his South American butchering heritage for a meat- and wine-centric gathering spot that channels that culture’s social BBQs. Nodding to his Peruvian heritage, there will be crudos and ceviches. Since his family also included bakers, a traditional Cuban country bread baked in a cast iron skillet will be served. A separate bar menu will feature Argentinean sandwiches, grilled skewered meats and fried tidbits. Expect South American vino and spirits, as well as mate tea, along with Latin pastries and coffee. It will open next spring (777 I St. NW).

Meanwhile, this month, the busy Abisu is opening Taco Bamba, a taqueria in Falls Church next to Plaza Latina, a busy market owned by his mother (2090 Pimmit Dr., Falls Church, VA).
