Ceia: Heading to the James Beard House Tonight; New, Larger Digs by January 7

Ceia is getting ready to open at 38 State Street in Newburyport.
An appearence at the James Beard House tonight, a new restaurant in about a week - that’s the way the Newburyport’s Ceia Kitchen + Bar team is rolling these days. Executive chef Patrick Soucy will be preparing a six-course “Tastes of Our Coastal European Heritage” at the James Beard House tonight to a sold-out dining room. If you didn't make reservations, don't fret. You’ll get to taste his oxtail ravioli with forest mushrooms (on the menu tonight) once the expanded Ceia opens come January 7 in its new locale, 38 State St. in Newburyport.

Ceia (pronounced SAY-yah), currently open at 25 State Street in Downtown Newburyport, will be open for New Year’s Eve then close January 1 after New Year's Day brunch (at 3 PM), only to open seven days later at 38 State Street. As we previously reported here, the new Ceia will occupy three levels, thus expanding from a roughly 1,200-square-foot restaurant to 3,300 square feet. The first floor will mimic the current location’s decor, whose exposed brick, antique mirrors, lamp sconces, wooden booths and copper tables create a cozy intimate setting. An open kitchen and a chef’s table will be features on the second floor and a lounge area will occupy the third-floor loft space.

Brine, an ode to raw bar specialties and prime meats, is slated to open in the original 25 State Street locale in a few weeks.
