Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken to Pop Up in Chinatown

Donuts are hot these days, with top-flight dining rooms like Fiola, Tabard Inn and 2Amys frying flavorful orbs for desserts and brunch. Soon Krispy Creme and Dunkin' Donuts will be facing sizzling competition in the walk-up/take-out market when Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken opens its doors Downtown in January.

Happily, there’s no need to wait until then to sample artisanal creations like maple bacon, peanut butter and jelly or crème brulee sinkers. On Thursday, December 21, and Friday, December 21, Chinatown Coffee Co. is hosting a pop-up. Astro's pastry chef Jason Gehring and founder Elliot Spaisman will be on hand selling orbs with holiday flavors like eggnog cake, panettone, gingerbread and grapefruit, as well as their fanciful basics, starting at 8 A.M.
