It's white truffle season around NYC, and restaurants are breaking out the shavers to slice some right over your plate. Of course, this special ingredient is priced at a premium, but devoted fans know that it's worth the extra dough. Since they only come along once a year, we're thinking there's nothing wrong with a little splurge. Here are three options to get your fix:
On Monday, Jonathan Benno will host a five-course truffle dinner at Lincoln Ristorante. We all know he's the chef there, but Benno is also the "World Ambassador of White Truffles of Alba" (yes, that's a thing). The dinner will feature the chef's cooking paired with wines from Piemonte. It's $285 per person and a wine reception starts at 7 PM (212-359-6500)
Maialino just launched a new winter truffle tasting menu that features four courses of pasta that comes with freshly shaved cocktail plus a dessert. The meal is $200 per person and is available every night (212-777-2410).
If you want to hit some funky truffles but aren't so into spending hundreds of dollars, Trufflemania hits the LIC Market this Saturday. The four-course menu will feature white and black truffles, which will be paired with locally sourced goods from the Tri-State area. There are seatings at 6 and 9 PM and the meal is $65 per person (718-361-0013).
