Trademark Debuts in Alexandria Today

Trademark, an Anglo-American gastropub with a forward-looking cocktail program, is slated to soft open today in Alexandria’s Carlyle District.  Taking its name and decorative motif from the neighboring U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, this smart-looking operation with a lounge-like atmosphere will be dispensing state of the art concoctions, wine and beer along with rustic snacks, like bacon candy. Photos of famous inventors and bookcases line the walls.

Its signature drinks offer inventive plays on classics. Its Old Fashioned will be made with Jefferson’s Reserve whiskey, pomegranate juice, grapefruit bitters, brown sugar and grapefruit. Pork 'n' beans, a Chesapeake pot pie, a mac and cheese riff on a Cuban sandwich, fish 'n'chips and fried pickles are some of the wide-ranging menu possibilities. It’s offering 20% off the menu through November 5. To boot, from November 6-13, there will be $5 cocktail tastes.
