Food writers and pretend frenemies Kim Severson and Julia Moskin have penned a book about their interpersonal culinary cooks-offs (first chronicled in the New York Times). Hear them sound off about their kitchen battles, new book Cookfight and other topics at this free event Friday evening at Omnivore Books at 3885 Cesar Chavez (Friday, 6-7 PM).
Kill two birds with one stone this Saturday at the New Taste Marketplace on Potrero Hill where over 30 food vendors will converge to ply holiday shoppers with both giftable edibles and tasty breakfast and lunch fare to be snarfed down onsite. The market will include other distractions such as live DJ spinning old soul, knife-sharpening services and plenty of coffee to jump start your day (Saturday 10 AM- 3 PM at St. Gregory’s Church, 500 De Haro St).
If eggnog just doesn’t cut it for you, consider slaking your thirst at The Bay Brewed, an indie rock and beer festival at Public Works being hosting by the SF Brewer Guild and the Bay Bridged. On tap is copious amounts of local beer and some terrific music (Saturday 12:30 – 6 PM, $50 per person in advance, $60 at the door, Public Works, 161 Eerie St, tickets available online).
After months of popping up hither and thither, Chris Kronner has found a semi-permanent spot for KronnerBurger. He’ll be slinging his sought-after bone marrow burger and other craveable snacks at Bruno’s in the Mission and has enlisted the help of some talent booze professionals such as Gabriel Lowe (Locanda) to whip up cocktails, Sayre Piotrkowski (St. Vincent) to supply the beer and Carl Sutton (Sutton Cellars) to dole out Basque-style cider. To start, KronnerBurger will pop up on Sunday and Monday nights, but will eventually ramp up to more evenings. To kick it off, Kronner will also be hosting a special burger “happy hour” this Saturday from 4:30- 8PM (before the club crowd descends).
