The hamburger, possibly America's most iconic meal, and, though the concept of the dish remains simple enough - ground beef patty, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mustard - everywhere you turn people have created their own version of it. While some chefs have added all sorts of oddities to their patties (foie gras or pickled beets anyone?), many regional eateries serve up a burger that has become the epitome not only of their the restaurant, but the area they are from.
