Meat lovers have noshed on bags of the original, Mongolian and Southwestern flavors of the chewy strips, and starting this week will also be able to bite into new “Pho Flavor Beef Jerky.” The new flavor is the first in a series of collaborations between Side Project and area chefs, this one developed with Time's Sean Magee.
The partnership - like so much else in the Philly food scene - began on Twitter, as Espinoza and Magee connected over musical tastes. The result is a jerky that carries all the nuances of a rich bowl of pho, the chef-favorite Vietnamese noodle soup that is extremely popular in some sections of Philadelphia. A limited release batch of the new flavor will be available starting this week at Cook, Green Aisle Grocery, Paoli's Trove General Store and in Brooklyn at Hickoree’s Floor Two.
