New York never sleeps, not even in a post-hurricane recovery period when large city areas are without power. That grainy photo is from The Spotted Pig in the West Village, which kept the candles burning at the bar last night, dishing out drinks to all comers. The restaurant is open again today until 10 PM, dishing out coffee and snacks during the day, and pouring what they have during the PM. Folks from the restaurant say they want to keep it real and "provide a neighborhood gathering spot for people to enjoy the company of others."
Another club is relocating from the Powerless Zone for the weekend. We got a note from Riff Raff's, saying that they have a special pop-up planned for three nights only starting tonight. Dubbed Riff Raff's Uptown, the party will be running at 125 East 54th Street through Saturday. If you really want to go all out, that's close enough to hop to Lavo, which has remained open.
In other nightlife news, take a look at this video from The Daily (posted on Eater) where Justin Rocket Silverman heads downtown to see folks partying in the darkness. This was only the first night after the storm, from what we here nerves are fraying a bit more since then.
