Midtown's Stage Deli Shutters After 75 Years

There's a little less pastrami in Midtown today, as Diner's Journal noticed that the 75-year-old stage deli closed its doors last night. The owners cite rising rents as a main cause, and claim that scaffolding that was erected in the front of the building really hurt business for a year. The winner in this situation is the nearby Carnegie Deli, which was the official arch nemesis of stage for years. The loser here are all the diners who want multiple options when they're in the mood for a sandwich that's as big as their face.
