Michael Recchiuti's Chocolate Lab Opens

More than just a chocolate retail space, local chocolatier Michael Recchiuti’s newly opened Chocolate Lab in Dogpatch (setting up shop in the old Piccino space) is an all-day full-service cafĂ©, complete with wine, craft beer and savory fare such as a tartine and cheese-and-charcuterie plate (garnished with honey from their own rooftop apiary), but let’s be real, you’re probably coming here for his chocolate and caramel creations and for that you won’t be disappointed – options include everything from a dainty milk chocolate mandarin mousse cake (shown above) to decadent ice cream floats to hot and cold chocolate drinks.

The 23-seat modern-looking storefront, outfitted with artisan metal and glass fixtures and mostly communal seating (and eventually sidewalk tables), doesn’t accept reservations but it stays open until 11 PM on Friday and Saturday nights. While you're in the 'hood, don’t forget to stop by Little Nib, the Recchiuti's retail kiosk located two doors down for all your holiday gifting needs. (Note: The Chocolate Lab will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.)
