Looking for an Excuse to Eat More Bread?

More than just making us hungry, researchers have discovered that the smell of freshly baked bread makes us kinder too. Studies published in the Journal of Social Psychology have proved that the mouth-watering aroma at the local baker triggers a positive mood that leads to a greater degree of altruism, or unconditional concern for the welfare of others.

Details of an experiment involving a dropped glove, handkerchief and packet of tissues outside a bakery published in the Daily Mail sound somewhat unscientific, but we're not complaining - we'll take any excuse to eat more bread and baked goods.
