Almond opened on Tuesday, in the Flatiron space that formerly housed Cyril Renaud's Bar Breton (and its short-lived subsequent revamp La Quenelle). Partners/owners Eric Lemonides, Jason Weiner and Antonio Rappazzo designed everything together, bringing in reclaimed wood from Coney Island to make the banquettes, and providing each private booth with its own set of those provocative '90s refrigerator magnets (you know the ones). The menu features a raw bar, natch along with some new takes on classic seafood fare like its "Brooklyn" clam chowder which incorporates Brooklyn lager, pancetta and corn nuts, Ahi tuna "ranchers" and a lobster BLT. (Per Se vet David Belknap helms the kitchen as chef de cuisine.) Look for more on L&W Oyster Co. right here on Monday.
