Gingerbread House Event Kicks Off the Boston Christmas Festival

Wicked Goodies winning gingerbread house
Sugar-stained glass windows, pretzel ladders, fondant reindeer - these are a few of the sweet and creative details on the houses that were part of the 19th Annual Gingerbread House competition held this morning at Boston’s World Trade Center in the Seaport District. Among the entrants were No. 9 Park with a lighthouse and Finale with a Santa’s Workshop theme. It was hard picking the winner, since all entrants showed creativity. But the best in show? Wicked Goodies, a cake designer specialty operation in Cambridge, MA.

These sweet architectural concoctions are for sale. All proceeds go to Housing Families Inc., a local non-profit that provides support to families in need.

The event kicked off The 26th Annual Boston Christmas Festival (yep, you heard us, CHRISTMAS), New England’s largest craft, specialty-foods and Christmas decor show happening this weekend, November 2-4, at the World Trade Center Boston in the Seaport District. The show features great artisan and food gifts such as wine accessories, hot sauces, jams, spiced nuts, herbs and spices, fudge (think hostess gifts for holiday parties!) as well as other gifts. Hundreds of artists around New England come together for this show. Click here for details.
