Frej Evolves Into Tasting-Menu-Only Concept Aska

Food from Frej
One of the most interesting restaurants this year had to be Frej, the pop-up that was dishing out inexpensive, Scandinavian fare in a tasting-menu-only format. The joint (which was only opened three nights a week) closed down for a spell in August, and now a revamped concept dubbed Aska will open in the space. Chef Fredrik Berselius is still on board, and he'll be preparing a six-course tasting menu for $65, which is available by reservation only. Eamon Rockey of Atera is now working with Berselius as the general manager, and the service has expanded to five nights, from Sunday through Thursday. Other drinks and a la cart options will be available on Fridays and Saturdays.

The restaurant is still in the non-traditional Kinfolk Studios space, but it seems more permanent this time around (the original incarnation shared the digs with a pop-up ramen joint). You can make reservations at the restaurant's website here (90 Wythe Ave.).
