Wabi, the Sussex-based contemporary Japanese restaurant, opens in Lincoln's Field near Holborn on November 26. Chef Scott Hallsworth and Taiji Maruyama (both ex Nobu) plan to push boundaries with dishes such as a foie gras martini with umeshu jelly, tea-smoked duck tataki and butter poached Spanish red shrimp with yuzu.
Lakwatsa, a bubble tea lounge, opens in Notting Hill on November 25. As well as tea, a light menu of Filipino snacks will include spring rolls and adobo rice balls, as well as prawn tempura and spicy fried squid. For dessert, expect Filipino favourites like banana and jackfruit fritters and leche flan.
Alan Yau's Bangkok-style cafe, Naamayaa Cafe, opens on November 16 in Islington. The founder of Wagamama, Yauatcha and Busaba Eathai will serve Thai street food all day with a heavy focus on noodles.
