No Friday plans? We recommend you check out Turner’s Seafood Grill & Market in Melrose, where the longtime purveyors of fresh seafood are showcasing many a lobster dish. According to the Turner family, apparently November is the best month for lobster because they grow a harder shell to protect themselves from predators over the winter months. If it keeps the cargo inside safe, sounds good to us. Check out an array of appetizers ($7-$15) and entrees ($28), including lobster spring rolls with cilantro-lime vinaigrette, a half-pound lobster with drawn butter, and lobster and mussel fra diavolo over linguini (781-662-0700).
Jason Santos (Blue Inc.), Tiffani Faison (Sweet Cheeks Q), Jeremy Sewall (Lineage, Island Creek Oyster Bar) and many other celeb chefs will whip up dishes on Saturday, November 10 at the Seaport Hotel in South Boston for "A Family Affair" gala to benefit Housing Families Inc., a non-profit that offers temporary shelter and support to families that might otherwise be homeless. Guests get to sample fine food and wine at various stations; there’s live music, dancing and a special performance by American Idol runner-up Siobhan Magnus. Maria Stephanos (Fox 25) will emcee the formal affair, which marks the organization’s 25th anniversary. You can buy tickets ahead of time or buy them at the door. On Sunday, check out John Harvard’s Brewery & Ale House when the Harvard Square brew house begins serving Sunday brunch this weekend. The Brewer’s Brunch menu features classics like traditional eggs Benedict ($9.99); huevos rancheros ($9.99); thick cut French toast stack (brioche dipped in crème anglaise and layered with Nutella and brûléed banana, $11.99); and "Shakespeare’s" breakfast pizza (tomato sauce, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, bacon and two eggs, $10.49). Enjoy each with a House Bloody Mary, Bloody Hot Pig (infused spicy-hot Blanco tequila with house Bloody Mary mix garnished with thick-cit bacon and a whole jalapeño) or a Brewer’s mimosa (11 AM-3 PM; 617-868-3585).
