Beaujolais Nouveau Parties Kick Off Tonight in SF and the Bay

France’s Beaujolais Nouveau has hit our shores and the subsequent drinking furor that ensues from the just-released young wine has begun. The parties and vino will be flowing at several restaurants around town. Here a few spots that promise spirited evenings tonight.

Grand Café: This Downtown brasserie is always ground zero for a lively Beaujolais Nouveau celebration but here’s further incentive. Guests who come bearing a mustache (real or otherwise) get a complimentary glass of Beaujolais Nouveau. For everyone else, it's $7 a glass or $28 for the bottle. Chef Alicia Jenish will whip up special dishes for pairings as well(5:30-9:30 PM, admission is free).

Redwood Room: 
The Clift Hotel will be hosting a sassy Beaujolais Nouveau release party than entails $5 glasses of the young wine from 7- 9 PM and dancing and music from DJ Frankie Boissey (how very French) from 7-PM to midnight enjoy glasses of Beaujolais and music from DJ Frankie Boissy. 

Arlequin Wine Merchant: The Hayes Valley wine shop will host “Beaujolais Bash”, pouring wines will be pouring more than 25 wines from various Cru Beaujolais and Beaujolais Nouveau producers at its “Beaujolais Bash” (6-8 PM, $25 at the door). 

18th Hour Café at 18 Reasons: For something more low-key, swing by this Bi-Rite offshoot in the Mission, which will be pouring three Nouveaus at its weekly 18th Hour happy hour. (6-10 PM, admission is free, savory bites available for $3-16 each).

Left Bank Brasseries: The entire Left Bank empire (Larkspur, San Jose, Menlo Park) will be celebrating the first wine of season starting tonight and continuing through Saturday November 17. All locations will feature Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais Nouveau 2012 ($10.25 per glass, $26.00 per ½ carafe, $36.00 per bottle) along with a $40.00 three-course prix fixe menu, a special selection of Pâtés Maison, and the regular a la carte offerings, all of which will be served for both lunch and dinner.
