The third Thursday in November brings the worldwide timed release of Beaujolais Nouveau, but there’s much more to that region of France than the short-fermented wine that receives all the marketing hype. To show off some of the area’s more mature offerings,
a.kitchen in Rittenhouse is offering five- and three-ounce pours of three Beaujolais that are usually only available for order in bottles. For example, try a 2008 Moulin à Vent from Bruno Barbet - made from hand-harvested grapes - or winemaker Michael Tete’s Juliénas Prestige, also from 2008, a more powerful style of red made from old-growth wines and then barrel fermented. Prices range from $10-$17, and the special glasses will be on offer throughout the month (215-825-7030).
