10 Things We're Thankful For in the Los Angeles Dining Scene

This is the time to reflect on what we're thankful for, and beyond the obvious - roof over our head, food on the table, good friends and loving family - we couldn’t be more thankful for the bounty we have in the LA food and drink scene. It's a favorite dish and the people behind it, both the farmers who grow the ingredients and the chefs who use them. It's our bartenders and wine geeks and whiskey aficionados. It's all of our favorite places rolled up into one big ball of deliciousness we call Los Angeles.     Must be the third world you are talking about. Compared to New York, Paris and even San Francisco, Los Angeles is a food desert. Excluding sushi places, you can count all of the really good restaurants in Los Angeles using the fingers of one hand...and have fingers left over.

    1. Rubbish James! I've been in 49 states and 50 foreign lands, eaten everything from street food to that served in the finest restaurants. Let's just focus on domestic food for the moment: You're right, LA sushi can be sublime, but we also serve up the best Mexican, Peruvian, Salvadoran, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and Persian food in the nation. We may be a bit light on French, Italian, Steak Houses and BBQ joints, but stellar examples of all exist - they're not always in the poshest neighborhoods, but hey, that's half the fun. And by the way, we invented California Cuisine!
