Photos: Zagat Presents Dinner at The Bedford

The Bedford, serves Champagne and oysters in a bank vault, is good for more than getting your drink on next to a safe deposit box. On Tuesday night, Zagat and MasterCard’s Priceless Chicago hosted a multi-course dinner with more than just shellfish and bubbly.

Seated in the private dinning room adjacent to those rockin’ hot pink bathrooms, the meal began with those quintessential oysters and champagne. The bivavles were served three ways: with American caviar, with bacon, and fried and topped with egg salad – chef Dan Maurer took inspiration for the last one from chef Stephanie Izard. Paired with a small glass of bubbly, it was an elegant start to a meal full of fall flavors.

The second course was a roasted beet salad with housemade ricotta, frisee and granola. It was quickly followed by an equally seasonal butternut squash soup. The main course was a grilled hanger steak with brussels sprouts covered with a red wine and shallot sauce. A decadent desert of goats milk cheesecake with roasted pecans and poached pears concluded the meal.

Gawk away at the tasty food porn from our meal, or even better; join us next time for a fabulous meal at one of Chicago’s hottest restaurants.
