Looking for more good reasons to eat sausages and drink beer? On Saturday, Virtue Feed and Grain, the Old Town Irish-American pub, will host an Oktoberfest in its Wales Alley with oysters, sausages, sauerkraut, live music, prizes and (of course) beer (11:30 AM-9 PM; 106 South Union St., Alexandria, VA; 571-970-3669). Or head to Reston Town Center for its blockbuster fall festival with more food, wine, beer, live entertainment and a carnival (11 AM-11 PM).
Taste of DC will fill historic Pennsylvania Avenue between the White House and the Capitol with restaurants and entertainment Saturday-Monday (noon-7 PM). A beer garden, family zone and chili eating contest are among its highlights. If that sounds too frenetic, mellow out instead at Columbia Heights Day on Saturday. It begins with a yoga workshop, and will have family performances, local artists, food and a beer garden (10 AM-6 PM; Harriet Tubman Elementary field, Kenyon St. NW between 11th and 13th Sts. NW).
