The Shed: A New Farm-to-Plate Restaurant Opens in Notting Hill

The Story: The Shed is a joint venture from the Gladwin brothers - Richard, Oliver and Gregory from West Sussex. Richard Gladwin (Bunga Bunga, Brawn) is the restaurant manager, Oliver Gladwin (Oxo Tower, Launceston Place) is the chef and Gregory supplies the restaurant with his own hand-reared livestock from the family farm at Nutbourne in West Sussex, also sourcing premium produce from other local suppliers with a natural emphasis on the seasonal and the foraged.

The Food: Small plates of British food with daily changing dishes that depend on availability of produce. The menu is divided into 'Mouthfuls' like West Mersea Rock Oysters or carrot hummus; 'Sharing Plates' of home-cured Nutbourne fennel seed salami; "Slow Cooked,' which includes dishes like rabbit ravioli and cured hot-smoked pheasant breast and 'Fast Cooked' like Sussex rump beef steak or crispy pollock, lemon potato vinaigrette with foraged chickweed.

The Look: Think reclaimed, rustic and shabby chic with fresh-faced waitresses in country-style getup. Everything was built by the brothers and their friends so expect anything from Brazilian orange juice barrels as tables and farm equipment hanging from the walls.
