Admittedly, we've been
eating way too much Greek food lately, and
Boukies, among other eateries, is where we go to OD on it. The newish East Village eatery which means 'small plates' in Greek was packed on a recent Saturday night in which we sampled the horiatiki salad, the smoked trout and caviar dip, and the whole grilled branzino. We finished our meal with one of our favorite Greek dishes - galaktoboureko - a dessert made from a semolina-based custard layered with phyllo and coated with a sweet syrup. While Boukies' version is a tad on the sweet side, it managed to satisfy our seemingly perpetual craving for this rich and flaky dessert.. Boukies is located at 29 East 2nd Street.
