Sunday In The Park with OTG: Picnic at the Presidio Launches This Weekend

Think all Off the Grid events are alike? Think again. The tireless organizers of the roving food truck markets are really thinking out of the (takeout) box with Picnic at the Presidio, a new weekly family-friendly Sunday afternoon extravaganza that will take place on the Main Lawn of the Presidio National Park. Launching this Sunday and repeating every Sunday throughout October, the event won’t just be the usual convergence of food trucks. In addition to mobile rigs from Del Popolo and Tim Lyum’s Gyoza Project, it will feature individual and family-sized portions of food presented by well-known brick-and-mortar restaurants such as Dixie, Bar Crudo, Wexler’sChotto and Nopalito.

Diners are encouraged to bring their own blankets but it doesn’t have to be a BYOB event: roving vendors will be selling Bloody Marys, Mimosas and Irish coffee blanket-side. Sounds like it’s going to be a bit of a three-ring circus. Retail vendors will also be hawking hot sauces, pickles and fresh fruits and vegetables and activity kits such as bocce ball, croquet, horseshoes and kites will be available for rent. Picnickers can even rent or purchase blankets and weather appropriate clothing just in case the Indian summer weather they were counting on turns foggy. We’re told that troubadours and newspaper vendors will also be wandering the lawn to further the spectacle-like atmosphere.

Every Sunday in October beginning October 7, from 11 AM- 4 PM on the Main Post of the Presidio Lawn (next to the Montgomery St barracks); for a complete list of participating vendors and a map of the location, check out the Facebook page.
