Steak 'N Shake Heads to the Middle East

Steak 'N Shake, the Midwest-based chain that expanded to the Big Apple last year, is taking the franchise overseas for the first time ever to the UAE, with a plan to open 40 new restaurants next year throughout the country (including cities Dubai and Abu Dhabi). Partnered with the Saleh Bin Lahej Group, the franchise hopes to make as big of a splash there as other U.S. chains like Shake Shack and IHOP. Why do you think the Middle East is such a hotbed for American fast food? Let us know in the comments and read more about the expansion here.

  1. In my opinion, the attractiveness of Middle East market for the food-service chains stems from;
    - High disposabe income with considerable amount for dining-out
    - High level of dining-out attributes in communities
    - Dining-out being a social and family event in lifestyle
