When Top Chef winner Kevin Sbraga picked Broad and Pine as the location for his first solo venture, naysayers were wary. Despite its proximity to Avenue of the Arts theaters, two previous eateries in the space both flopped. After today, however, that corner is likely to become one of the hottest restaurant spots in Philadelphia, because revered food scribe John Mariani picked Sbraga as one of Esquire's Best New Restaurants of 2012. Mariani cites the respect with which the chef treats his guests, as well as the incredible deal that is Sbraga’s $49 four-course prix fixe menu. The modern American restaurant serves dinner Monday-Saturday (there’s a special $75 chef’s counter tasting option as well), and reservations are accepted. You’re gonna need them (215-735-1913).
