Sandy Watch: Canceled Events and Where to Get a Cup of Coffee

South End's Render Coffee
If you live on the Eastern Seaboard, hopefully you’re reading this with your own hot cup of Joe in hand. Given the weather, here’s an update on a few cancellations of major events in the Boston area. It's important to stay informed and most of all, to stay safe!

The No Kid Hungry Dinner scheduled for this evening at Rialto in Cambridge has been canceled. Likewise, the Taste of Boston fund-raiser for President Barack Obama in which First Lady Michelle Obama was planning to attend on Tuesday, October 30 at the Park Plaza Castle has also been canceled - all due to Hurricane Sandy.

Call restaurants or check their social media updates ahead of time if you have a hankering, since many in and around Boston are battening down their own hatches and may be closed. For example, Blue Inc. will be closed for lunch Monday, October 29; check back on dinner. Hamersley’s Bistro will be closed for dinner Monday.

However, per their Twitter account, Render Coffee in the South End says it will likely be open Monday morning (7 AM, usual time) “to early afternoon." A call confirms it will close at noon.

Take nothing for granted. Stock up on peanut butter, and stay safe!
