Congratulations on making it to the end of mixology week with us. We schmoozed with bartenders, consumed a cocktail or two and maybe even took a shot along the way. Just because this week was filled with liquor, doesn’t mean we didn’t save some fun for the weekend, but maybe it’s time to switch to beer.
Malort Night
The Chicago spirit we love to hate with be on special at Paddy Long's this Saturday. Starting at 8 PM, a tribute to Malort and its prefect counterpart, canned beer, will take over the bacon bar for Malort Night 2: The Cheap Beer Festival. All shots of Malort are $3 and select cans are $2. Along with a very good time, a hangover is also guaranteed (773-290-6988).
Drinking and Writing
We would never admit to this, of course, but sometime the words flow a little easier after a few. On Saturday, the Drinking and Writing Festival celebrates of our favorite alcohol-dependent artists at Haymarket. This year’s festival features the works of Beat writers such as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs and Lawrence Ferlinghetti. The night concludes with a two drink minimum writing contest. Tickets cost $30 (312-638-0700).
Belgian Beer
A Belgian brewery rooted in over 100 years of traditional beer making team up with a modern California brewer and the result is something delicious. Talk about and taste the collaboration when St. Fueillen Brewery owner Dominique Friart stops by Fountainhead on Monday night to talk about her collaboration with Green Flash. In addition to the Belgian-American beers, food pairings will also be served (773-697-8204).
