Pig Out on Whole Pig at Freddy Smalls

Because we like pig, goat, lamb or just about anything you can stick on a spit or roast in a box, we hope the whole-animal dinner trend will never wane. This Sunday (Oct. 21) West LA's Freddy Smalls gets in on the act with a whole pig dinner that also celebrates the fall harvest. Chef Charlie Parker will serve things like persimmon and gem lettuces with pork vinaigrette and whipped goat cheese, potato dumplings and slow-braised pork ragout, roast pork loin and crisp belly with chanterelles and sunchokes, and date-and-bacon cake with grilled pear and rum cream, all family-style. The $75 price tag includes three cocktails (something ginny, something Cognac-y, and something whiskey). Make reservations for one of the two seatings (6 and 8 PM) by calling 310-479-3000.
