More details about Andrew Meieran's plans for the historic Clifton's cafeteria in Downtown LA are unraveling as we speak. Blogdowntown shares much of it - there will be seven different areas throughout the 50,000-square-foot space, including a soda shop and tiki bar, a history room filled with artifacts found during demolition, a cafeteria, and more bars on several floors all tied together by what Meieran describes as "science meets nature." He hopes to open the first phase in five months and the rest will be unveiled one by one after. We came across this photo of the original Clifton's facade via the LAT, and it looks like this is the direction the new Clifton's is headed. Vintage LA stops us in our tracks every time.
