Photo of the Day: Champers at Bi-Rite's 18th Reasons

There's plenty to celebrate in San Francisco right now, particularly if you're a Giants or an A's fan. And Bi-Rite Market has just the bottle of bubbly to crack open. The gourmet market just posted this Facebook shot announcing that it's the exclusive importer of Casebianche “La Matta” Fiano Pet Nat. The sparkling wine (shown above) from Campania is made Pet-Nat, or “Petillant Naturel”, without the use of commercial yeasts, by allowing the first fermentation to take place completely inside the bottle. It's made from the Fiano grape which is native to Campania, and is said to have a cider-like pear flavor with a fine in texture and very dry finish. According to the store, only 12 cases are being imported into the US and only Bi-Rite has them. They'll be uncorked this Thursday from 6-10 PM at the 18th Hour Cafe, the weekly art-viewing and happy hour party held at 18 Reasons featuring wine, charcuterie and vegan bites ranging from $3-$16.
