Who says high-end Parisian style doesn't go well with good ol’ American country? The two come together this Monday when Paris Wine Bar (and London Grill) proprietor Terry Berch McNally hosts author “Hoppin’” John Martin Taylor for a special dinner to celebrate the 20th anniversary and re-release of his cookbook, Hoppin' John's Lowcountry Cooking. In addition family style dinner, guests will enjoy live Creole and African jazz music throughout the event, which begins at 6 PM with a cocktail reception.
Berch McNally first met Taylor over two decades ago at former food fest The Book and The Cook, and the pair has remained friends ever since. The spread at the dinner will include “trash” sausage biscuits (how come they sound so good?); oysters; shrimp and chicken pilau; skillet cornbread; cobbler and other Southern faves. Beverage pairings are included in the $60 price, and will include various wines include rosé and Côtes du Rhone. Cookbooks will be available for purchase, and reservations are suggested (215-978-4545).
