All the top BBQ slingers in town came out for Thrillist's BBQ & the Blues at midtown's Hudson Terrace. Rocco DiSpirito was the host/main event although oddly he was there promoting his new low-cal cookbook
Now Eat This! Italian which seemingly had very little to do with the rest of the BBQ-themed event. No matter! The Larceny bourbon was flowing and
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in the house, so we were happy campers. And while the glut of food media was off at Burger Bash, we were scanning the scene here for some surprisingly tasty slow-cooked grub.
Local band Baby Soda set the soundtrack of New Orleans jazz while restaurants like
Lowcountry,
Mexicue and
Kristalbelli provided some saucy snacks. Dinosaur BBQ's John Stage was in the house as well as pitmaster "Big Lou" Elrose of
Wildwood. Food highlights included upcoming pop-up eatery Briskettown's barbecue brisket, (Billyburg residents - get excited) Dinosaur's pulled pork sandwich and event highlights included getting hustled upstairs by the coat check gestapo and catching Rocco Dispirito sing along to Maroon 5's
