Probably the coolest cooking couple around, Extra Virgin’s Debi Mazar and Gabriele Corcos hosted one of the weekend’s most fabulous events at Meatpacking’s trendy Double Seven. They busted out bubbles, booze and most importantly, the fish eggs - caviar generously stuffed in beggar’s purses, dressing up potato latkes, and lacing mini blinis. The big surprise? This Northern Divine caviar was Canadian, from sustainably-raised white sturgeon from British Columbia. The bigger surprise? It was excellent - delicately salty black pearls with a smooth pop.
Not surprising: Mazar and Corcos are just as convivial as they appear on TV, easily mingling with the crowd, getting everyone on their feet to dance as the DJ spun classics from Blondie to Prince. The couple gushed to us how happy they were to be back in Debi’s hometown of NYC, and shared that their new Brooklyn home, and New York’s Italian-American culture, will play a big part of the new EV season. “We visit Arthur Avenue, Brooklyn butchers and other landmarks important to New York Italians.” Also, stay tuned for guest stars like Anthony Bourdain and Michael White.
Season 3 of Extra Virgin premieres November 7, 9:30EST on the Cooking Channel
