New York Dining Deals and Events October 15-21

Food Film Festival 

Monday

NoHo’s Il Buco teams up with Italian cheesemaker Renato Brancaleoni for the last of a series of tasting dinners tonight in the rustic wine cellar. The meal runs $120 and includes wine pairings - featured cheeses will also be on sale at their nearby Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria.

Tuesday

Casa Mezcal hosts Drink.Think: A Showcase Event for Food and Drink Writers tonight at 7 PM. Nine writers including Boozy Brunch author Peter Joseph, Ice Cream: A Global History scribe Laura Weiss, and Rosie Schaap, drink columnist for the New York Times Magazine, will read their work. Sip complementary Montelobos Mezcal wine, and stay afterwards for book signings.



Wednesday

The 6th NYC Film Food Festival - where guests watch food-focused movies then eat what they’ve just seen on screen - kicks off tonight with the US Premiere of Whisky: The Islay Edition at NY Distillery in Williamsburg. Following the film, Chef Chris Rendell of Highlands Restaurant Group will prepare a paired Scottish tasting menu. The evening runs $125 - get tickets and see the entire festival lineup here.

Thursday

Former New York Magazine restaurant critic Gael Greene teams up with culinary salon City Grit at 7:30 PM tonight for a reading from her books on sex and erotica along with a four-course dinner featuring legendary aphrodisiacs. The evening costs $65, and guests also receive a free download of one of Green’s novels or guides. Find info here.

Friday

Red Hook distillery and chocolate factory Cacao Prierto throws a launch party for Widow Jane single malt whiskey tonight from 7-10 PM. The free event includes cocktails, BBQ, and live bluegrass music. Get more info and RSVP by October 15th to save your spot.

Saturday

If you haven’t made it to a Cider Week event yet, there are still plenty of opportunities to be had over the weekend. Today’s events include tastings at Taproom 307 and Artisan Wine Shop, and cider making class at the Brooklyn Kitchen. See the complete calendar and sign up for events here.

Sunday

Epicurean Management takes over the Prince George Ballroom with their Not My Day Job event from 1-5 PM today. Part talent show, part culinary showcase, the afternoon will include a cocktail competition and tastings from a long list of city eateries including Shake Shack, The Dutch, Colicchio & Sons, and The Wren. Tickets run $50 for adults, with proceeds going to benefit local art organizations.
