New Beer Halls: The Glendale Tap and BJs Pasadena Start Pouring

Glendale Tap taps
Is there enough beer in the universe to sustain the ever-growing beer trend around LA? Seems so. Adding the the Pasadena beer scene is BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse, which debuts today in a former bank adjacent to the Paseo Colorado. While it looked like fewer chains were opening around town, BJ's will compete for the attention of those who flock to places like The Cheesecake Factory and Buca di Beppo (both still extremely popular even with much better eating nearby). This is an interesting choice of location, considering the Yard House, a similar chain-y concept, is in the Paseo and gets a lot of foot traffic from the Arclight Theater. Then again, only one has the Pizookie. (234 E. Colorado Blvd.; 626-204-0845). [via Pasadena Scoop]

A couple 'burbs over, The Glendale Tap opened last week, a new 52-tap bar from the guy behind Toluca Lake's Timmy Nolan's Tavern. It's your basic beer spot: dart boards, barrel tables, vintage signs and knickknacks, brick walls, a pool table. You'll find everything from AleSmith IPA to Racer X on tap, plus just a lot of suds from Lagunitas, Deschutes and more. It's not too far from the Pub at Golden Road, so there may be a little biking beer crawl that can happen here (4227 San Ferndando Rd.; 818-241-4227).
