Since opening over the summer, vegan food soothsayer Rachel Klein has been hosting Saturday night farmhouse table dinners at Miss Rachel’s Pantry on West Passyunk Avenue. This week the tasting menu will be prepared in collaboration with a special guest chef: Scott Schroeder. The Twitter-happy top toque of South Philadelphia Tap Room and American Sardine Bar spent several months experimenting with veganism himself, so he’s primed for the challenge of making a great meal with no animals involved.
The November 3 dinner will feature four courses with free beer pairings for $50 per person. Expect an antipasto platter that includes caramelized Brussels sprouts and pickled squash; fresh-made vegan pasta with local veggies; a yet-to-be-determined soup; and oatmeal-crusted tarts with fruit and maple syrup.
