Marco Pierre White: Too Posh For His Own Pub?

It seems not everyone knows a good thing when they taste it.

When chef Marco Pierre White gave The Rainbow Inn in Cooksbrige, East Sussex a makeover at the beginning of the year, you would have thought the locals would be pleased. Sadly not. Just ten months after the celebrity chef replaced dishes like bangers and mash with delicacies including poussin a la chipolatas and pomme fondant, the restauranteur has left the pub after customers declared his food 'too posh.'

And it wasn't just the food that upset the locals, the gastropub was given a sophisticated new look to with a dark matte interior, artwork and lace tablecloths. The Daily Mail has reported that following his departure the old menu has been restored and a bar that was ripped out is being replaced. Oh well, their loss...
