Ludo in Burgundy With Bourdain and Big Waves in Hawaii

Even without his own show right now, Ludobites mastermind Ludovic Lefebvre had two big hits on the small (and even smaller) screen this week. On the Travel Channel, he and Anthony Bourdain visited Ludo's grand-mere, his favorite saucy local butcher, the chefs who gave him his start, and plenty of friends where he grew up in Burgundy. There were drunken chansons. There was a lot of meat slapping. And there was a moment when Ludo realized he'd rather cook his dinner than pick it out of a pen while still alive. What makes the man and the chef? A lot of cheese and great wine, obvs.

One of the best moments was watching Ludo flip through not only his grandmother's recipe book, but also one of his great-grandmother's, and create a meal from them. One of the saddest: When he said there aren't any good French restaurants in LA. Harsh! If you didn't catch the ep, here's some behind-the-scenes photos and more. Then we caught this video of Ludo on LAist, where he and pro surfers Mark Healy, Steph Gilmore and Reef McIntosh hunt for and cook up local fish, crab and lobster in Hawaii. We can't wait to see how all this globe-hopping inspires his next project here in LA.
