Sunny lunchtime at Bow & Truss
One of North Hollywood's newest, Bow & Truss, launched its new lunch menu last week. Now you can get mid-day Latin-inspired dishes like grilled sea bass tacos with carrot slaw, open-faced bocadillos with pulled chiken or cheesy jamon, and cocktails designed by Aiden Demerest (Neat) and Marcos Tello. This is a good week for the All Hallows Eve Flip made with house-made pumpkin cream (11122 Magnolia Blvd.; 818-985-8787).

If you haven't tasted Smog City Brewing's beers yet, this local up-and-comer is worth seeking out. Tonight it celebrates its first year anniversary at Burbank's favorite beer bar, Tony's Darts Away. Power brewing couple Jonathan and Laurie Porter will be on hand to discuss their beers like Smog City XPA, Hoptonic IP and the super sippable LA Saison. Festivities start at 6 PM (1710 W. Magnolia Blvd.; 818-253-1710).

It feels like we've been celebrating Halloween for weeks already, but tonight the fun continues. Here are at least 15 ideas to get you into the spirit, including Halloween cocktails, menus and more.

Test Kitchen at Bestia turns to the top chefs of Mexico this weekend, with Benito Molina kicking things off tonight. Taste dishes from his restaurant Manzanilla, including clamato with dried meat and mezcal, ceviche, fish with shrimp and cactus beans, chilmole marinated pork with apples and gaujillo polenta, and chamomilie panna cotta. Pablo Salas (Amaranta Restaurant), Jair Tellz (MeroToro) and Javier Plascencia (Mision 19) round out the weekend. Make reservations for all here (2121 E. 7th Place).

To honor the Stanley Kubrick exhibit opening at LACMA today, chef Kris Morningstar and barman Paul Sanguinetti have created a couple of Clockwork Orange-inspired dishes and drinks at Ray's and Stark Bar. After checking out the extensive retrospective on the legendary film auteur's accomplishments, sip grab a bite at the restaurant, or sip on the Clockwork Orange (bourbon, amaro, fresh carrot juice, caraway foam) at the bar.

While checking out the Breeder's Cup, the launch of thoroughbred racing season, at Santa Anita Park this weekend, grab some sustenance from Heirloom LA, The Gorbals, Kogi, Mo-Chica and more. Takes place from 11 AM to 4 PM both Saturday and Sunday at the Paddock Fountain Area. Pick up your food vouchers at ticket kiosks (dishes priced $5-$15) (285 W. Huntington Dr.).

It's all a game at Drago Centro this fall. Well, game dishes, that is. Taste new chef de cusine Ian Gresick's new creations like venison carpaccio with huckleberry jam, rabbit fettuccine with shaved fennel and baked ricotta, and truffle-crusted partridge with potato puree and brussels sprouts. Wine pairings for a full menu or a la carte dishes are available (525 S. Flower St.; 213-228-8998).

  1. I think I'm going to be very full this week. The restaurants featured here are absolutely delicious. I think I'm going to be a foodie on that week.

  2. This can be a great sound judgment post. Worthwhile one who is merely seeking the means relating to this element. It's going to undoubtedly help teach me personally. Richard A. Wales
