| Truffles add sought-after rich flavor, even to desserts |
Though the special truffle menus at
Le Castagne don’t start until this coming Monday, we’re posting about them now because these are evenings you might want to save up for. From November 5-10, the Rittenhouse Italian is offering prix fixe dinners at two price points, each featuring a five-course meal full of truffle-tastic dishes. Both black and white varieties of the prized ingredient - which can command up to $6,000 per pound - will be showcased in plates both savory (eggs Milanese; tagliatelle) and sweet (think truffle ricotta gelato).
The tasting menu is available for $125 per person in the “deluxe” truffle package, or you can choose to include wine pairings in the “premium” package for $350. Additionally, diners can opt to add white ($50) or black ($35) truffle shavings to any dish.
