K-Pop Brings Gangnam Style to the Castro

Ok, so the "hey sexy lady" refrain doesn't actually work for the Castro, but local restaurateur Nam Kim, who owns the nearby Barracuda Japanese and Osaka Sushi, is about to unleash a trendy South Korean-style restaurant appropriately named K Pop in the heart of the Castro next week. The corner spot, a revolving door that's housed Soup Freaks, the pop-up Green Works and several short-lived restaurants since its days as a camera shop, has been papered over for months, but a recently added ticker tape of dishes to expect - galbi, mandu, bi bim bop, japchae and posters of, well, sexy ladies, posing in front of a bottle of soju hanging in the front door indicate that this baby is almost ready to rock. We caught up with owner Nam Kim who told us that if all goes well, he plans to open K Pop on Wednesday. No word if Psy and other infectiously catchy K-pop music will be played in heavy rotation.

K Pop, expected to open next Wednesday at 499 Castro Street
