Fall Fest Alert: PHeaSt Farm to Table Fundraiser, October 19

The Philadelphia Horticultural Society (PHS) has been playing up its food game recently, with chef demos at its Center City pop-up garden and hosting ABC’s The Chew at this year’s fall garden show. Drawing on these connections, the organization is throwing its first fall fundraiser, dubbed PHeaSt (a not so subtle mashup of PHS and “eat”). Judging from the lineup of chefs involved, the farm to table fest looks like a winner: Marc Vetri (Vetri, Alla Spina, Osteria, Amis), Aimee Olexy (Talula’s Table, Talula’s Garden) and Jon Cichon (Lacroix) are just a few of the top Philly food folk who will be serving up eats.

The event takes place in a warehouse at the Philadelphia Navy Yard at the south end of Broad Street (near where Vetri’s yearly Great Chefs event is held), and will feature a “grazing menu” of farm to table dishes using ingredients from local farms and gardens, as well as outdoor fire pits to set the harvest mood. Drinks on offer will include local beer from Earth Bread + Brewery. Tickets to the fundraiser, which benefits the PHS City Harvest program, run $150 per person, and are available online here. A VIP option goes for $300 a head, and includes a special whiskey tasting with Bristol, PA’s Dad’s Hat Rye, as well as a private bar area and a gift bag (7-10 PM, Friday, October 19).
