Eataly Is Headed to Chicago With Italian Products, Sausage Grill

Eataly NYC
There has been a lot of speculation over where Mario Batali's super-successful Italian market/restaurant complex Eataly would expand, and the lucky city turns out to be Chicago. Batali and Co. will bring a version of their sprawling venture to the space that formerly housed the ESPN Zone, according to Diner's Journal. There will be a restaurant with a grill that will pay homage to the sausages of Chicago past, and of course plenty of products will be for sale after bring shipped in directly from the mother country.

The article contains some crazy tidbits about the New York location. Last year it played host to 7 million visitors, which is no surprise to anyone who has tried to work their way through the crowded aisles. Revenues were a whopping $85 million, and it was only the joint's second year in business. Expect a Chicago opening in September, 2013. A Los Angeles location is also in the works.
