Cocktails, Chess and Ball Gowns at The Spare Room

It might be Mixology Week now, but we like to think every week is Cocktail Week. We also think there is never a bad time sip martinis and play chess while wearing a tux and ball gown.  As if it was just for us, The Spare Room at the Hollywood Roosevelt will host a Black Tie Chess Tournament on Monday (Oct. 22). Expect "extraordinary prizes" for winners, which really should include best dressed if people go all out, and a few special Russian Standard Vodka cocktails for the night. Cocktails and "warm up" starts at 9 PM; chess play starts at 10 PM. No reservations necessary - just show up in your finest. And, hey, if you can't play chess, you can always bowl. Because nothing is better than bowling in a ball gown after a few tipples.
