Cocktail-Shaking Robots To Descend on San Francisco

The barkeep of the future
For every trend, there’s always a micro-niche of die-hards that geek out on said trend. So it goes with spirit mavens who take a mad scientist approach to distilling. And what better way to deliver these molecular gastronomy-inspired style cocktails than via state-of-the-art cocktail-shaking barbots like the ones shown above? If this Burning Man-meets-Tales of the Cocktail mash-up sounds like your thing, you won’t want to miss the upcoming The Science of Distillery, a hands-on cocktail course that delves into the science behind the still being held at 111 Minna Gallery on October 30.

The event is part of the upcoming Bay Area Science Festival hosted by Inforum at the Commonwealth Club and will bring together the some of the Bay Area’s top mixologists and master distillers (St. George Spirits, Charbay Winery & Distillery, Anchor Distilling, 1512 Spirits, Essential Spirits and SFVodka all representing). Attendees will get their own interactive beverage-making station and enjoy a drink (or three) during the process. It’s all going down on Mischief Night which means you can recreate your concoctions the next day at your Halloween party.

The Science of Distillery, October 30 from 6:30 – 9 PM at 111 Minna Street, tickets are $40 for general admission (21+), $25 for Inforum members, purchase online
