Best Thing We Ate Yesterday: Marston's Crazy Good French Toast

No matter how many new places we try all over town, there are the standbys we'll never shake. Marston's Restaurant in Pasadena is one of those places, a cute little breakfast and lunch joint set in an aging cottage a few blocks from the main drag in Old Town. The place has been there forever, and just about anyone who goes through Pasadena has been there once. By the look of the line on the sidewalk some days, you'd think it was the only place serving breakfast (not true), and sure, it's worth the wait. Well, if you plan on getting French toast it is. There's something about it - the thick-cut sourdough bread, the crisp corn flake coating, the copious amounts of real maple syrup that complete it all. It's consistent and comforting and crazy-good delicious. Go ahead an splurge on the berries or banana; it somehow makes the plate of buttery bread feel healthy.
